Licensing
A wedding is full of love and romance — and paperwork. There are a couple of licences to sort out before the day, and it is worth starting early.
Marriage License
You will need a marriage licence before the ceremony. In Saskatchewan these are issued through Vital Statistics by licensed issuers around the province, and both of you will need to attend in person with identification. If either of you has been married before, bring the divorce certificate or, if your spouse has died, the death certificate. Licences are only valid for a limited period, so check the current requirements and timing with your issuer rather than booking it too far ahead.
Liquor License
If you are supplying alcohol at your reception you will need a special occasion permit. In Saskatchewan these are handled by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA), and the type of permit depends on whether you are running an open or a cash bar. Apply through SLGA well before the date, and check their current requirements — your venue may also have conditions of its own.
